HAUTES-ALPES. - Louis-Charles DABON (1756-1817), mayor of Gap, he refused to receive Napoleon in his city in 1815. 5 L.A.S. to his uncle M. de Sieyès. Gap, 1812-1813. 12 pp. in-4. Family and business letters: failure of the vaccination of a little girl, family considerations, affairs of the time, in particular his nomination as mayor of Gap: "The first detachment of our national guard left on the 4th of the current; but the final organization is not finished as regards the officers [...]. I have just been named to my great regret mayor of Gap. I had expressed to our prefect the greatest repugnance for this position; he answered me by giving me holy water during the day. Finally, after having retired with 35 years of service to enjoy a few moments of rest and tranquility, here I am at the head of a very ungrateful, very boring administration to which I am a complete stranger [...]". A letter from Jouvent to the public prosecutor at the criminal court of the Hautes-Alpes (Embrun, year 7), about a procedure against citizen Fantin, is attached. - Jean-Irénée DEPÉRY (1796-1861), bishop of Gap (1844-1861).
