Carl Adolph AGARDH (1785-1859), Swedish botanist. L.A.S. addressed to the botanist Benjamin Gaillon (1782-1839), in Dieppe. Paris, November 16, 1820. 1 p. in-4. Address on the reverse side and red wax stamp with the figure CA. Approximate French. Interesting scientific letter from Agardh, then visiting Paris, addressed to Benjamin Gaillon, botanist specialized in marine plants: " [...] I have been for a long time occupied with the study of aquatic algae [...] I came to Paris from the northern heights mainly to learn about the collections of algae that are there, being occupied with several works on this family. Agardh asks for samples of algae collected by his colleague and adds "The first volume of my Species algarum, which contains a general description and the first booklet of my Icones Algarum Ineditae have just appeared [...]". He will send him his publications as soon as he returns to Sweden and asks for the species discovered by Gaillon to integrate them "I will then be able to mark you the name that your aquatic plants bear in my species [...]".
