Autograph letter to his aunt Madame de La Faverge, in La Roche. 1 p. in-4. The bottom of the document where his signature should have appeared is missing. Address on the back. Very rare letter. "Pallas was very welcome at Telemachus, because she brought news to the chaste Penelope of the return of her beloved husband Olysses: I would like very much that this letter of mine be a Pallas messenger of such a good news. [You warn me, & prejudge that I want to try hard, to seek consolation, & because you warn me, & see too well all that I could bring you, I will resist, not so much for fear of having been discovered, as for fear of upsetting you by the repetition of what you are often proposed [] ". And he offers her "the incense of my affection on the altar of your virtues []". (see also n°548)
