NORTH AMERICA. - Christophe COLOMB & Amerigo VESPUCCI]. Rare pair of early 18th century engravings signed in the plate "Bouttats sc" and "P. B. Bouttats scul", [Pieter Balthazar Bouttats (1666-1758)]. The first one represents Amerigo Vespucci: legend in the engraving "AMERICO VESPUCIO GRAND PILOTO". The bottom cartouche represents a massacre of Indians by the Spanish conquistadors. Small worm holes in the upper part. Framed. The second Christopher Columbus: legend in the engraving "EL ALMIRANTE DON CHRISTOVAL COLON VIREY Y GOVERNADOR GENERAL EN TODAS LAS INDIAS". This second engraving is in bad condition (holes and wormholes, wear). Unframed (under mat). - Philadelphia and Cohoes Falls]. 2 manuscripts from the early 19th century. 5 pp. small folio. The first is a period copy of a text entitled "Description of the Falls of the Cohoes, July 1803. "We left Troye at 8 o'clock in the morning and at about 10 o'clock we were at the bridge established on the Mohock [...]". Endnote: "Extract from a handwritten journal". The second is a period manuscript of a translation of an article from the Philadelphia Literary Magazine, October 1806: "Philadelphia is the saddest, most monotonous and least interesting city [...]". - Large diploma printed on vellum. Northampton, Massachusetts, June 19, 1933. 38 x 50 cm. Diploma of Doctor of Art, "magistralem in Artibus" from Smith College in Northampton, awarded to Paul Barbé. - Patent of second lieutenant in the United States Air Force, awarded to Denzel G. Wilson. Washington June 6, 1953. 35 x 25 cm. Accompanied by a large photo of a US Naval company (1946), with the names of all the members on the back. 35 x 28 cm.
