[Nohant, 18 January 1863] and Palaiseau, 12 Sept. 1864. One with a small tear touching a note. "Inform yourself, my good man, but do not waste your time beyond what is strictly necessary. Carry or send my letter, you will be answered. Be always picky and wise. Best wishes from all those here. [Letter published in the Correspondence of George Sand]. "I beg my friend Mr. Mario Proth to ask you to communicate to me the collection of the Press since the coup d'état, in order to facilitate a research I have charged him with". She praises the merits of Mario Proth and recommends him warmly. "By obliging him, you will oblige me personally, and trusting in you as any person of good faith towards a person of merit, I express you in advance all my gratitude ".
