HAUTS-DE-SEINE. Nicolas DES MARETS (1648-1721), controller g - Lot 164
HAUTS-DE-SEINE. Nicolas DES MARETS (1648-1721), controller general of Finances of Louis XIV. Joseph Jean Baptiste FLEURIAU D'ARMENONVILLE (1661-1728), keeper of the seals, captain of the Muette and the Bois de Boulogne. 5 letters signed by the first one and 1 L.S. by the second one, to M. de La Faluère, grand master of the Waters and Forests of Ile-de-France. 7 pp. in-folio. Paris, Marly and Versailles, 1705-1723. Provenance: library of Sir Thomas Phillipps (ms n°29883). Correspondence concerning the adjudication of the glandée of the Bois de Boulogne, the sowing of the King's nurseries, and the repopulation of the wood. "I have received your letter of the 12th of this month, which contained the clarifications that I asked you concerning the tending of the Bois de Boulogne this year. There is nothing to change on the provisions which you made for the raising of the two hundred septiers of acorn destined to replenish the empty and vague places of this wood, as well as for the reimbursement of the expenses. But with regard to the adjudication of the remainder of the acorns that could still be found in the wood, it is easy to understand that the freedom that it would give to the adjudicators to enter the wood would cause a much greater prejudice than the profit that could be made from it, so it is necessary that you make it known to the officers of the mastery that the intention of the King is that the adjudication that you ordered them to make should not be carried out this year [].
