YVELINES. Henri DU PLESSIS-GUENEGAUD (1609-1676), secretary of state to the King's household. Signed piece, on vellum. 2 ½ pp. in-folio. Vincennes, October 14, 1666. Reconstruction of the bridge of Chatou, which had been looted and burned during France, April 25, 1652. Excerpt from a decree of the Conseil d'Etat issued the same day, October 14, 1666, signed by Guénégaud. "On the request presented to the King in his Council by Paul Charpentier, master carpenter in Paris, successful bidder for the carpentry works necessary to restore the bridge of Chatou. Containing that before undertaking the said restoration, having had the ground sounded where the said bridge is in order to know what could be the seat of the piles which it would be necessary to put in the places which are to be restored and that even having had some of those which remained drawn to take the measurements of the pieces of wood which would be necessary for it, the suppliant would have recognized that the old piles had only entered the ground by eight to nine feet [] ".
