ILLE-ET-VILAINE. Adolphe de LANTIVY (1796-1850). 5 autograph letters signed to his former schoolmate, Maurice Jamet in Vannes. 15 pp. in-4. Saint-Malo (the last one from Rouen), June 1815 - September 1816. Addresses on the back with postmarks. Some tears. Long account of Saint-Malo and Brittany during the transition from the end of the Empire to the beginning of the Restoration, by a young sailor of the old Breton nobility. "We received by telegraph [] that the king had returned to Paris []. There was a lot of rejoicing, they lit up and fired a hundred and one cannon shots and put up the white flag, which enraged the soldiers who are garrisoned here; so they did the devil all night long on Sunday, they began to awaken the whole city by making the general beat the drum, saying that the English were at the gates of the city and that there were ten thousand of them", but it was to make the inhabitants flee and to plunder their houses.
