AIN. Édouard PUTHOD (1827-1911), lawyer and journalist, he was prefect of the Ain (from Sept. 1870 to April 1871). Set of autograph manuscripts, some signed, 1880. Interesting set on the political rivalries and the electoral battle engaged in Bourg-en-Bresse in 1880. - Manuscript of 4 pp. in-8, Bourg July 3, 1880, telling the situation: "One amuses oneself much since three days in Bourg en Bresse: once is not customary! The heroes of the comedy are the deep politicians of our city council, so-called radical. These gentlemen lend themselves to laughter among our Bresse population, a little surprised to see such strong heads playing the role of mystified people with such perfect candor and a no less perfect oblivion of any feeling of patriotism [] ". - 3 L.A.S. (drafts) to Eugène Chambaud (director and owner of the Progrès de l'Ain) and 1 L.A.S. (draft) to M. Arêne (director of the Abeille). 13 pp. in-4. Bourg, August 2 - 17, 1880. On the same affair and the rivalries between the 2 newspapers. "I send you, as last echoes of the electoral fight in Bourg, the enclosed copies of two letters that I addressed on August 2 and 5 to Chambaud, who possesses the originals but refused to insert them, keeping the most prudent silence on an incident which embarrasses him and his boss, the citizen Tiersot [] ". - Autograph manuscript, 3 pp. in-folio. Bourg, December 10, 1880: "The good city of Bourg seems to be sleeping again in its usual placidity: but one should not trust an appearance which could be very misleading.
