Henri de LACAZE-DUTHIERS (1821-1901), zoologist (Museum and Academy of Sciences). L.A.S. to Ernest Mouchez. 1 p. in-4, headed by the laboratory of Zoology of the Faculty of Sciences. Paris, Nov. 25, 1888. Election to the Academy of Sciences. He intervenes to have Chambrelent elected. He returns expressly from the South of France for this election to the Academy of Sciences. "I am asked and asked again to write to you, invoking that we have sailed together. Reason reminds me of good times, and I let myself go. I am told to tell you that the titles of Chambrelent are titles of agriculture and that it is the section of agriculture. Rest assured that since I have been in the Academy, I have often heard the titles of the so-called sections discussed - and I believe that we would be dealing a fatal blow to a host of scholars if we did not take into account the works pertaining to our sections. Mr. Chambrelent has already had 25 votes []". [Jules François Hilaire Chambrelent (1817-1893), was the father of the Landes forest; he was not elected to the Rural Economy section of the Academy of Sciences until 1891.]
