GERS. Ed. BISCHOFF-BOUTILLIER, son-in-law... - Lot 51 - Conan Belleville Hôtel d'Ainay
GERS. Ed. BISCHOFF-BOUTILLIER, son-in-law of the engineer of the Ponts et Chaussées in charge of the construction of the railroad from Agen to Tarbes. L.A.S. to Alexis de Gourgues. 4 pp. in-4, headed by the railroads of the South. Auch, May 7, 1866. Detailed account of the discovery of 2 precious prehistoric objects, made between Lectoure and Fleurance, during the construction of the railway line between Agen and Auch. Having shown them to several scholars, all agreed on the exceptional character of these objects. "Mr Lartet, whose name is certainly not unknown to you, came to the country in the meantime. M. l'abbé Canilo and M. l'abbé Dupuy led me to him with my two weapons, which he found extraordinary, and yet he has seen them. He made me promise that I would send them to the exhibition of '67, which will be useless because it is likely that at that time they will be in Paris either in the Louvre or in the Museum of St. Germain [] ".
