In Toulouse he made friends with a naturalist with whom he travelled around the area in search of beetles. "My practice is beginning to take on a presentable attitude, I have more than 400 European birds, not counting the quadrupeds []". "I am busy at the moment with a rather meticulous work with Mr. Burguet, one of our new graduates. I am coloring 200 plates of the memoir of Mr. Marcel de Serres on the geology of the department of Herault; it was necessary to devote oneself to avoid that the Society spends for this work 300 f. that one asked him [] ".
