Edmond Perrier (1844-1921), zoologist, director... - Lot 46 - Conan Belleville Hôtel d'Ainay
Edmond Perrier (1844-1921), zoologist, director of the Museum from 1900 to 1919. L.A.S. to "monsieur le Président" [entomologist Emile-Louis Ragonot (1843-1895), president of the Entomological Society of France]. Paris, April 30, 1895. 2 pp. in-8, heading of the Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle / Zoologie / (annelids, molluscs, zoophytes). Succession of the entomology chair of the Museum. Edmond Perrier supports the candidacy of Jules Künckel d'Herculais to succeed Emile Blanchard (now blind) to the entomology chair of the Museum. "As you no doubt know, the chair of entomology and the succession of the venerated Mr. Blanchard is being sought by a number of candidates, all of great merit. Among them, there is one whose anatomical work is an authority, that is M. Künckel d'Herculais; but in this succession of M. Blanchard's, one thing concerns me above all, and that is the fate of the entomological collections. I would only like to give my voice to a man who would be in a position, either by himself or through his entomological relations, to have them updated, both from the point of view of determination and of the number of species []".
