Letters relating to the sale of his dyeing processes and his wife's request for divorce for serious insults. April 26, 1815: "Since she persists in wanting to slander herself and attacks me in my honor, which is dearer to me than life, I am determined to defend myself to the utmost, and I wish today that the reparation be as legal and public as the offense []". He hoped that the sale of his dyeing processes would enable him to pay his debts to his solicitor. May 26, 1818. "I devote the fruit of my labours to liquidating all my debts, even the most unjust and unforeseen ones; but with the distressing state of my health, the privations I impose on myself, and the modicity of my present salaries, I need time and, above all, peace of mind. You know better than anyone how much I have been a victim of injustice and slander []". Three other letters concern settlement deadlines. October 30, 1823, to Guillard de Senainville, secretary of the Société d'encouragement and of the commission of the Grand Jury at the Louvre, about his course.
