"Rapport au Conseil d'agriculture, séance du 11 aoust 1821", relative à l'infertilité des terres volcaniques prélevées par le comte de Montlosier, sur son domaine en Auvergne. He had a chemical analysis carried out and detailed his conclusions. It turns out that the volcanic soil seems to lack humus, which justifies low harvests of clover and alfalfa. Felling (clearing by fire) also makes the soil infertile.
