"One of my friends who saw the thujas being cut down, which took away my view of the garden, asked me where they were going to be transplanted. I told him according to Mr. Thouin's authority that they were too big to be replanted and that they were good for nothing. My friend seemed to me to be convinced of the contrary and asked me to give him some of them. I promised him a dozen". He asked Thouin to give him the thujas.
