50 woven pages. In 1886 we had the idea to make on Jacquard loom, in Lyon, a prayer book entirely woven. The 50 pages decorated with Gothic letters and miniatures after the illuminations of the 14th to 16th century required two years of work.
It is said that 50 copies of this book were woven. Decorated with 4 illustrations, including 3 full-page miniatures, numerous ornate lettering. Text in Gothic characters, in black silk on silver silk, on two columns framed with richly decorated borders of scrolls.
Read Paul Marais' study, woven prayer books - Bulletin du Bibliophile 1889 - pp. 163 to 166.
